Hey everyone! We've gotten a few emails/letters from Elder Call, and after a few days of adjustment at the MTC, he's doing well!! I've added an excerpt from his latest email, in which he includes a stern warning at the end... Good to see that his sense of humor is still in tact :) p.s. I've included a picture of Ryan and I pre-Mission because pictures make blogs more fun. Enjoy:
Life has been picking up! I've ran into Elder Hellburg ALOT! I know him from being on the swim team, so we always run up to each other and say hi, and it's always fun! Also i've made a few friends here at the MTC. Elder Stenquist is one of them! He is from Kaysville, and we decided that when we get back home we're going to be best friends and we'll get a team together of mission friends and run Ragnar. :) It's gonna be epic! And i've made friends with quite a few blokes. My district? Not so much. We're friendly-ish, and we have to be with each other almost 16/6 (the hours we're awake not including p-day), but i'm not super tight with anyone in my district.
I'm leaving in ONE WEEK!!!! I can call ya'll at the airport if i so choose ;) better send lots of mail and packages and butter me up! ;) KIDDING!!!! I fly out Wednesday at 6 am, so we leave here at 3am, so i'm getting up at 1:30 am! We fly out, and head for BEAUTIFUL TEXAS!!!! There we'll meet an escort who will show us around the city, take us out for dinner, to a rodeo, then off to OOOOOOKLAHOMA!!!! ;) Again, kidding. But we do stop in Houston(?) Texas. It'll be nice to get out to the MTC, but it's starting to grow on me!
Contrary to some beliefs, being here is NOT like taking a drink out of a firehydrant. I feel more like i'm completely dehydrated, and i'm in the middle of a BEAUTIFUL Oasis, but i have to drink all of it through a small hole in a tooth-pick. The members of my district aren't prone to effective studying, OR staying on task, or even talking about appropriate things! :P It's typically up to me and the district leader, and Elder Fullmer to study, and teach the others how to study, or try and keep them on task. But they're getting better! I'll give them that much!
I LOVE being an english speaker here! We get massive amounts of study time, and get to study insane/awesome doctrinal things, and that's what we'll talk about!
I'm rolling around loving the MTC! It's like living in the temple! But, the law of opposites is in FULL swing here, for all the powerful and great spiritual experiences there are here, there is ALOT of things of the world that i wish some missionaries would check at the door. BUT! As the Madame De Pompedeur said in Dr. Who (mike can show you the episode, it's called "Girl in the fireplace") "one can tolerant a world of demons for the sake of an angel!" And that's how it is here.
My companions and i are getting along much better now. We're all very different, the three of us (having 3 makes it more difficult i think), but we're having alot more "fun," and that, believe it or not, was my problem!
And... OH! Just so you know, the woman at the barber shop gave me a HEINOUS haircut. I pretty much look bald on the sides of my head. NEVER LET THE WOMAN AT THE MTC CUT YOUR HAIR!!!!!! :(
